Heli Skiing Snow & Terrain
in the Selkirk Mountains, Nelson, West Kootenays

ALL SNOW IS NOT CREATED EQUAL.
The product that falls in the West Kootenays is the lightest, softest and purest variety that often measures over 35 feet per year. Around these parts it's known as COLD SMOKE.
"There is no where else in the world where there is a concentration of deep powder that can be accessed by so many different methods of transport, " writes Keith Carlson of POWDER MAGAZINE.
Our heli terrain, simply put, is WORLD CLASS. Encompassing over 150,000 acres we have a huge amount of skiable area that garantees untouched powder runs all day long every day.
The cat
skiing terrain includes predominantly glades in old growth
forests and cliff band entrances into deep open bowls. Our
tenure is located in the Bonnington Range of the Selkirk
Mountains, an area reknowned for getting huge amounts of
light powder all winter long. If you like skiing steep old growth trees then this is the place for you!
We have
an average annual snowfall of approximately 42 ft. Our average snowbase is 12 feet or
4 metres deep!
We highly recommend you are an advanced
to expert skier for the cat terrain eager to ski hard all
day long.
Which ever option you
choose, we aim to find you the best snow conditions every
day.

TYPICAL WEATHER
Winter temperatures range between
-15 and + 15 degrees celcius (5-59 degrees farenheit). Our
average daily temperature is between -1 and -7 celcius (in
the 20's Farenheit).
Remember when you are reading weather
reports that we are considerably higher in elevation so
our temps are colder than you might think. That said, we
can get any type of weather in the course of a season. While
January 15 to March 15th is generally considered the heart
of winter, December and later March have seen huge dumps
and cold temperatures. |
